Abstract
During the period of 10 years from the 1960 to the 1970, 50 cases of Vertebral Angiography were performed at national medical center. The roentgenographic findings of 50 cases were analyzed.
Following were the results.
1. Over all Sex ratio of the material was 37 (67.5%)males, 13 (32.5%) females.
2. Catheterization via the radial rout was found to be more successful in patients above than the age of 40.
3. Unsuccessful cateterization was 4 cases out of 54 examinations due mainly to arterosclerotic changes.
4. In our series it was possible to place the tip of the catheter in the Lt. vertebral A. in 39 cases, the Rt. vertebral A. in 4 cases. in 5 cases it lay in the proximal part of the Lt. subclavian A, in 2 cases, of Lt. subclavian A. and in 4 cases, of the unsuccessful catheterization.
5. Under the results, normal findings were 24 cases (48%), abnormal findings were 26 cases(52%).
6. Straightening form of basilar A. is the most common normal findings on the A-P view.
7. Out of 16 cases of tumor, Cerebellopontine tumor(8 cases)was the most common of the posterior fossa tumor on the angiography findings.
8. Posterior inferior Cerebellar artery was the most frequently affected by the pathological lesions.
9. Angiogram of the Vertebral Artery is the most available method in detecting pathological findings of the vascular system in the posterior fossa.
